DPD France receives its 53rd NGV vehicle

Low emission delivery: DPD France receives its 53rd NGV vehicle and places an order for a further 8 electric vehicles

29 March 2018 - Since 2016, DPD France's low emission delivery strategy has gone from strength to strength. After a number of NGV projects conducted throughout France over the last two years, and the trial of a 100% electric vehicle just a few months ago, DPD France - and one of its subcontractors - has received 8 NGV vehicles for its low emission deliveries in Paris and the greater Paris region. Meanwhile, the company's conclusive trial of electric vehicles in Orléans has resulted in an order for 8 eVans from TIP Trailer Services.

Expand the fleet from 32 to 53 NGV vehicles in just a few months? Mission completed

Firmly committed to a strategy of delivery via alternative vehicles since 2016, DPD France has now announced the arrival of 8 new NGV vehicles to join its core delivery process, in line with its 2017 target.

These new vehicles have a load carrying capacity of 13m3. They have been assigned to DPD Gennevilliers depot and will contribute to the energy transition of the fleet that operates parcel delivery services to half of the Parisian districts from the depot. The vehicles were allocated to this depot due to the availability of NGV supply stations in Gennevilliers.

"Our other projects for the Ile-de-France region include similar developments for the cities of Nanterre and Trappes, depending on the locations of NGV stations in these areas", says Virginie Lequy, Operational Process Manager in charge of steering Urban Logistics Joint Priority Project at DPD France.

"On a broader level, we are actively pursuing our NGV deployment plan for 2020, targeting 60 vehicles by the end of the year. This deployment plan is moving forward efficiently, and we aim to complement it with the introduction of electric vehicles".

Meanwhile, 8 new electric vehicles are on order

DPD France will also be acquiring electric vehicles for its low emission fleet. After conclusive trials carried out in Orleans in 2017, DPD France has ordered (under full-service rental) 8 lightweight 100% electric commercial vehicles from TIP Trailer Services, with a carrying capacity of 15m3 each and a range of 200 km. As part of this global support project, TIP Trailer Services will partner with Bouygues Energies and Services to install, rent and monitor the charging terminals.

The following DPD France depots will soon be equipped with electric vehicles: 2 for DPD Orléans, 2 for DPD Avignon, 1 for DPD Trappes, 1 for DPD Gennevilliers, 1 for DPD Valence and 1 for DPD Le Mans.

"These vehicles have priority in major city centre traffic during peak pollution periods, and are part of our policy for energy transition of our delivery fleet. We believe in the energy mix, namely electric and NGV for urban centres, and we're working in consultation with our subcontractors on these topics", adds Virginie Lequy.
